PILGRIMAGE CHAPLAIN’S PROFILE:  FR. DAVE T. CONCEPCION

Fr. Dave Concepcion is the Parish Priest of Sta. Maria Goretti Parish, the church hidden like a pearl in the oyster called the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center along United Nations Avenue in Manila’s Paco District.

He is the President of Catholic Travel Inc. and has journeyed with many pilgrims to the Holy Land and other holy sites around the world as pilgrimage chaplain.

Fr. Dave is a sought after homilist and retreat master known for reflections that lead one to introspection and a deeper relationship with God. He reaches a greater audience on Radio Veritas846 as a regular co-anchor on Pamilya Mo, Pamilya Ko (Mondays, 10-11:55am) where he shares his reflections on the Gospel.

Aside from his daily masses at Sta. Maria Goretti Parish, he presides the Monday 5:45pm and 7pm Eucharistic Celebration at the Sto, Niño de Paz chapel in Greenbelt and the Saturday 12:15pm at the Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord in Megamall.

He teaches Fundamental Liturgy at the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary, the seminary for late vocations of which he is an alumnus.

Fr. Dave is the Spiritual Director of the Rivers of Living Water Catholic Community.

Madaba was located along the King’s Highway trade route and was considered an important town during the time of the early Christians.

It is known as the “City of Mosaics” and is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land.  The mosaic covers the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George built in 1896 AD over the remains of the 6th century Byzantine church which use to stand there.

Unlike modern maps, which face north, the Madaba mosaic is orientated to the east, with the Jordan River flowing from left to right.  Using a palette consisting of coloured stones and glass, the unknown artist depicted biblical locations, regional names and events, even labelling them.  Central in the masterpiece is the Holy City of Jerusalem which is presented with its walls, gates, main streets and buildings.
