ITINERARY:

SEP 26 MANILA / FUKUOKA /

NAGASAKI (D)
Check-in at NAIA Terminal 2 at 0645hrs. Depart Manila to Fukuoka, Japan. Upon arrival in Fukuoka Airport, drive to Nagasaki City. Then we will go to Mt. Inasa, a landmark place in Nagasaki, and is a hugely popular spot for appreciating the night view of the city. Transfer to hotel in Nagasaki for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

SEP 27 NAGASAKI (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we will have a full-day guided tour to visit the Shuntoku-ji Temple (Ruins of Todos-os Santos Church). Then proceed to St. Kolbe Memorial Museum. Then continue to Santo Domingo Church ruins. Lunch at a local restaurant. Drive to Oura Cathedral, the oldest church that exists in Japan and also the first and newly approved Minor Basilica in Japan. We will also see the Glover Garden nearby. Have dinner at a local restaurant before returning to hotel for overnight.

SEP 28 NAGASAKI (B/L/D)
Breakfast at Youth Hostel. Start our full-day guided tour to visit the Urakami Cathedral. Proceed to Nagasaki Peace Park where the Peace Statue and Peace Fountain are located. Pass by the Atomic bomb Hypocenter (ground Zero), then visit the Atomic Bomb Museum. Have lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the 26 Martyrs Museum (statue of St. Lorenzo Ruiz can be found here). Visit also the nearby St. Philip’s Church. Then proceed to the Church dedicated to St. Lorenzo Ruiz – the Nakamachi Church. Celebrate Mass on this 30th anniversary of his sainthood. Afterwards, have some time to shop at Don Quixote Nagasaki before having dinner at a local restaurant. Return to hotel for overnight.

SEP 29 NAGASAKI / SASEBO / HIRADO (B/L/D)
After breakfast and check-out at the hostel, drive to Saikaibashi Park for a photo stop. Drive to Hirado City. We will visit Tabira Church, the Hirado Castle, St. Francis Xavier Memorial Church, pass by the Scenery of Churches and Temples walk and also drop by the Kawachi Pass. Transfer to hotel in Hirado for check-in, dinner and overnight.

SEP 30 HIRADO / FUKUOKA / MANILA (B/-/-)
We will attend the public Mass at Kamikozaki Church before having our breakfast and check-out at the hotel. Drive to Fukuoka City. Have a quick visit to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine or other Fukuoka spot if time permits. We will proceed to Aeon Mall Fukuoka. Lunch will be on our own account. Transfer to Fukuoka Airport to catch our flight back to Manila. Arrive in Manila at 1825hrs.

PILGRIM CHAPLAIN’S PROFILE: FR. ERNO DIAZ

Fr. Erno Diaz is a prolific author and staunch devotee of St. Lorenzo Ruiz. Inspired by the Saint, he has written several books: “San Lorenzo Ruiz, Patron Saint of Filipino Immigrants” (1993), “On the Road with San Lorenzo” (2005), “San Lorenzo Ruiz and Filipinos in Diaspora” (2012), and “San Lorenzo’s Impresario” (2012).

His recently launched book, “The Sin I Knew,” is a book of his recollections of the late Cardinal Jaime Sin. Proceeds of the book will fund the projects of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Global Ministry. Among others, this includes the enthronement of the image of San Lorenzo in airports, the saint being the Patron Saint of migrant workers.

Fr. Erno was ordained in 1969 upon obtaining Philosophy and Theology degrees at University of Santo Tomas.

He is currently based in the US and was the first Filipino pastor in the Archdiocese of New York. Among other positions he has held there are: founding director of the Philippine Pastoral Center, apostolate coordinator of the Archdiocese of New York, and administrator of St. Margaret Mary’s Church in Staten Island, New York.

Fr. Diaz is now the administrator of the Church of the Guardian Angel in the Chelsea area of Manhattan, New York, and founding chair of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Global Ministry-Philippines.
