TABGHA: Are you willing to give a piece?

“When he disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. By now it was already late and his disciples approached him and said, “This is a deserted place and it is already very late. Dismiss them so that they can go to the surrounding farms and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” He said to them in reply, “Give them some food yourselves.” But they said to him, “Are we to buy two hundred days’ wages worth of food and give it to them to eat?” He asked them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out they said, “Five loaves and two fish.” So he gave orders to have them sit down in groups on the green grass. The people took their places in rows by hundreds and by fifties. Then, taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to [his] disciples to set before the people; he also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied. And they picked up twelve wicker baskets full of fragments and what was left of the fish. Those who ate [of the loaves] were five thousand men.” – Mark 6: 34-44

There were five thousand men not even counting the women and children.

I always say, “Expect nothing less than a miracle.” But a miracle can happen only if we do our share. The multiplication of bread and fish happened because someone shared what he had. There was not enough. There will never be enough, but if you do your share a miracle can happen.

Sometimes God acts before you act, sometimes God acts after you act – but God will never act without you acting. If Peter did not decide to get out of the boat, he would not have walked on the water.

God is telling you today: “I want you to see a miracle!” But you need to act, regardless of your fears, doubts, your need for security and thinking, ”If I share this bread and fish, what will happen to me?”

If you want a miracle, you must act.

Under the main altar at Tabgha you will see the famous mosaic. You will notice that there are two fish but only four loaves. Scripture says that there were five loaves, why would the mosaic have only four? It is one way of saying, “Are you willing to give a piece of your loaves?”

If you want a miracle, you must share what you have. The invitation is to go beyond your imagination. This is the acting part, the giving part, the sharing part, the letting go.

If God asks something from you, I assure you – He has no need for it. He just wants to put something new in your hands.

You can walk on the water, but you don’t want to leave your boats. You can witness the multiplication of the bread and the fish, but you need to do your share. You need to give and let go.

What is it that the Lord wants you to let go of to experience your miracle?

Keep in mind, sometimes God acts before you act, sometimes God acts after you act – but God will never act without you acting.
